Birthday Birdies

Thursday, February 28, 2008

I chose another digital scrapbook image for my background, and then I printed another to cut the birds out and raise them up. I used some Wild Wasabi and Ballet Blue paper after that to brighten it up. Then just a couple of varieties of ribbons and printed the wording out using a font that's called Roddy. I used some Wild Wasabi ink around the edges a bit too. Not any other stamping, but it was fun.

Well this is my Friday, so we're going out to dinner and drinks for awhile. He has to work tomorrow, but he's ok with it. He's much better about getting up in the morning than I am. Tomorrow is my running around errand day and then I'm going to a Stampin' Up card party in the evening. I'm anxious to meet this new demonstrator and just all in all meet new people in general. I'll let you know what I learn and of course share whatever fun stuff I come home with.

Have a good Thursday evening and a great TGIF tomorrow!!

Recipe: Background paper from Cardstock is Wild Wasabi and Ballet Blue. Ink is Wild Wasabi. Ribbons are mostly from Joann's. Font is Roddy.

You are one of a kind!

I was inspired to do this layout by a card from, which I've been talking about for the last couple of days. They had flowers basically and so I knew that it could easily be done with stamps. This is one of the stamps from the Carte Postale set, which I also use quite a bit. I do love these colors together, and as usual it always looks so much better in person than what a camera can do. I've always got to bling it up with something sparkly, it just makes it look happier!
There is a Rubber Stamp and Scrapbook Expo going on here this weekend in Glendale, AZ. I did go last weekend to the Tucson show, which is 2 hours away, and managed to spend more than I should have already because I wasn't sure I could make it to the one this weekend, which is very close. I may have to squeeze an hour in and check it out since it's going to have a few more vendors and some different as well. Stay tuned to see some of the things I'll be whipping up with the stuff I did get! If it happens to be coming to your area, it's worth going to.
I'm tired tonite, so I'm hitting the couch with the remote to watch some recorded shows! No cardmaking for me (altho my head is spinning with ideas from spending too much time on splitcoaststampers again!).
Recipe: Stamp - from the Carte Postale set. Ink, paper and ribbon is Purely Pomegranate along with Elegant Eggplant (I think). Four silver brads, one purple flower rhinestone. The one flower is raised up with zots and the font is Angelina.

For Special You

Tuesday, February 26, 2008

This is another birthday card where I
printed the background paper from my stash of digital scrapbooking files downloaded from and then went on from there. I like to try and make those who are close to me in my life feel special on their special day, so that's what I was thinking when I made this. I just need to get better organized so that I send them out in plenty of time! I enjoy the Time Well Spent set, and so this butterfly is from it. I probably should have done a drangonfly, but I have to think out of the box sometimes right? I added some bling with all of the rhinestones, and the butterflies do have zots behind them so they are raised up off of the card, not sure that you can see that. Which reminds me that I should get a new kickin' camera some day. Hope you enjoy it. Thanks.

Recipe: Stamp - Butterfly from Time Well Spent. Paper is Bazill tan and brown and then the pink is Regal Rose. There are 12 tiny adhesive rhinestones, and 3 larger pink ones and some pink ribbon. The sentiment I printed on my computer with the Dyspepsia font (not sure what the heck that means, but it is the correct spelling).

I Love You Smore!

Monday, February 25, 2008

So it was a little chilly here in Arizona, I know that sounds weird, but we decided to build a fire and when kids are around that means you make s'mores! I took a few pictures, because who can resist a face full of chocolate, and decided that was more than enough inspiration to make a card out of a special time. I wasn't sure what to do with it, but before long I thought the little bird in the Fun & Fast Notes set, who is usually holding a flower was the perfect model to change into holding a marshmallow. I just took a piece of fun foam and acheived making it look like a burnt marshmallow using markers and ink. The background paper is a download from Sometimes when I'm stuck and seem out of inspiration, I'll look to my digital scrapbooking stuff for things and I thought that this made a good background as far as color and design are concerned. On the inside I used a couple of the pictures of my guys' kids and the verse on the top says: "If a picture is worth a thousand words, then moments like these are rare. A treasured picture caught on film, a priceless memory to share." Needless to say, it blew him away and probably loves it more than I enjoyed making it for him. It's so cool to give a card to someone that is so appreciative. So turn your cards into memories for someone, they sure will love it!

Recipe: Stamp - Bird from Fun and Fast Notes. Ink is Close to Cocoa and Colorbox Chalk in Chestnut Brown. Bazill paper and as stated above, background decorative paper was downloaded from and printed out and then tied it up with a couple of different kinds of ribbon.

Make a Wish

Sunday, February 17, 2008

Hey there all! I was inspired by splitcoaststampers FS54 on this, but it seems like squares are the thing to do all of sudden, by me also (see my Valentine's card?). Anyway, it's simple and fun and since it's the beginning of a new year of birthdays, I need to build up my stash again.

The weekend is winding down, and I've got to work tomorrow, even tho it's President's Day, so I know that some of you are off, you lucky dogs! I shouldn't complain, because I still have Friday's off, and I do love that.

Recipe: Stamp - Make a Wish - from the Dolloar Tree that I colored in with markers. Ink is just black Staz On. Paper is Flavia's peaches and pomegranates. Make a Wish ribbon - not sure where I acquired it! Big square brad.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Wednesday, February 13, 2008

This holiday is so romantic, isn't it? I just love this day!! It's the true hopeless romantic that I am for sure. Who doesn't love to be in love and I hope that you are able to spend this day with someone special in your life. I "cased" this layout idea from makij on splitcoaststampers who "cased" prchvs. I'm posting this Wednesday nite, since I know I won't have time to do it tomorrow, but I wanted to wish you and yours a very, very Happy Valentine's Day!

Recipe: Stamp - Heart from Made From Scratch set. Paper is red, white and light pink. Ink is VersaColor in Cardinal. Ribbon and heart foam shapes are from Michael's. Font is Love Letters.

Scalloped Dahlia

Wednesday, February 6, 2008

I found out about this pattern on of course, and tried it with the scalloped round punch. This is my first try and after all of the work I put into it, it's not perfect, but I decided I needed to do something with it anyway. I plan on doing a heart/valentine one too, so I'll show you how that goes if it turns out. I do love these colors together and tend to use them often. Not sure if a blue dahlia exists, but it does now!!

Recipe: Brown, blue and off white paper, the stamps are from the Carte Postale set. Ink is Close to Cocoa and hen some brown sheer and blue ribbon. The center of the flower is a silver/pearl brad.

Happy Hearts!

Sunday, February 3, 2008

This is for the Ways to Use It Challenge (WT151) which focuses on staples. I like using them, whenever I think of using them that is, so this was a good challenge and reminder. The other fun thing is The Greengrocer's Brown Bag paper. This is the Blue Berry color and it was fun to use especially for this challenge because I could bend the corner back so you could see the paper bag color on the back. The matching envelopes are fun too. I've checked to see if I could find this company online, and I couldn't find them. I purchased these at xpedx, which is an awesome paper products store.

Anyway, it's Superbowl Sunday and the house smells like sweet and sour meatballs in the crock pot right now. It's almost time to get the rest of the grub going for the super pig out. Have a great day!!

Recipe: Stamp - Heart from Year Round Fun II. Paper, as I talked about above, the Blue is The Greengrocer's Brown Bag paper in Blue Berry. The outside color is Purely Pomegranate, I think. Then I used the scallop circle puch some ribons and of course purplely/pinky staples.
